As part DTE Energy’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the grid, our team has been actively identifying equipment in need of upgrading or replacement. This initiative recently brought our crews to the corner of Forest Avenue and Lakewood Drive in Waterford Township. Here, they installed a new power pole along with new pole top equipment.
These enhancements are a key part of the larger upgrades happening across our service area. Each upgraded site contributes to reinforcing the grid’s overall integrity, improving performance for our customers, especially during extreme weather situations.
Infrastructure upgrades are essential for reducing outages and improving the grid’s resilience and reliability. By updating equipment, DTE is strengthening the system and preparing it to meet future energy needs. Our commitment to these improvements guarantees that customers will continue to enjoy the dependable service they expect.
DTE is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by 2029.
Upgrading work is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
