DTE team members recently came together to help children and families facing food insecurity.
DTE wrapped up its annual cereal drive on May 30, collecting more than 2,700 boxes of cereal over 30 days to benefit longtime community partners, Gleaners Community Food Bank and United Way of Greater Central Michigan (UWGCM).
Across 17 DTE locations and service centers, groups filled collection boxes and encouraged their coworkers to participate, all with one shared goal: helping families put food on the table during a time of year when many children lose access to school meals.
For DTE team members, giving back is an important part of living out the company’s commitment to the communities it serves. Many employees live in the same neighborhoods where these donations will make a difference, making efforts like the cereal drive a meaningful way to support local families beyond the work they do every day.

“Seeing everyone come together for a cause like this is incredibly meaningful,” Tiffany Corpening, Service Operations support specialist, DTE. “It shows the heart of our team and the care we have for the communities we serve. Knowing these donations will help families during a challenging time means a lot to all of us, and it’s a reminder of the impact we can make when we work together.”
Together, those donations will provide over 25,000 servings of cereal for children and families in a time of need.
On June 4, DTE team members gathered at Kroger in Royal Oak to unload donations and help fill a school bus with cereal boxes before the food was transported to Gleaners for distribution. The group also delivered donations to UWGCM to support families in Greater Central Michigan.
The cereal drive is one way DTE’s team shows care for the communities where they live and serve. Their passion to donate, volunteer and rally coworkers reflects a shared belief that helping neighbors is part of what it means to serve Michigan communities.
