Who we are
The DTE Energy Foundation supports initiatives focused on arts and culture, community transformation, economic progress, education and employment, environment and human needs with the goal of providing hope and inspiration to nonprofits making a difference in their communities. The Foundation is committed to a diverse, inclusive, and equitable environment where all board members, and staff feel respected and valued regardless of gender, age, race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation or identity, disability, education, or any other bias.
The DTE Energy Foundation is intentional in its investments. We focus on the opportunities that are closely aligned with our six areas of giving and where our support can accomplish growth and progress where DTE has a business presence.
DTE Foundation grant applications are accepted by invitation-only, directly in correlation with our schedule: Q1 – Education & Employment, Q2 – Community Transformation/Economic Progress, Q3 – Human Needs/Arts & Culture, Q4 Environment.
Arts & Culture
Create vibrant, diverse communities by focusing on artistic works that reflect the voices of the community and address racial equity and justice through arts education, public engagement work and cultural institutions.
Human Needs
Support effective, equitable programming that is culturally relevant and serves the needs of diverse, vulnerable residents while engaging the community. Funding is primarily allocated to organizations and/or programs that address food insecurities and housing.
Community Transformation
Transform lives by helping revitalize safe, attractive, connected walkable communities and localized economic growth in an equitable manner for residents. We focus on parks and community spaces, safety and security and community development.
Economic Progress
Boost the business landscape focusing on job creation and business attraction, retention and expansion for underserved populations.
Education & Employment
Provide equitable access to educational and employment opportunities for underserved youth and adults, including the differently-abled, veterans, and returning citizens.
Environment
Support programs and/or organizations focused on environmental leadership and sustainability with an emphasis on air, land, water quality and wildlife. Funding is primarily allocated to organizations that demonstrate their commitment to underserved populations and vulnerable groups through equitable development.
