DTE Energy continues to provide updating of our infrastructure across the many communities we serve.
This is helping build a stronger grid for our customers. Our crews inspect locations in the field every day to see where upgrading from current equipment would be beneficial.
Recently, in Van Buren Township at the intersection of Beck Road and McBride Avenue, crews were busy carrying out pole top upgrades. Specifically, they installed a brand-new power pole and the accompanying pole-top equipment at this location. This new equipment is superior to earlier models as they are made of a much more durable material, sturdier and more reliable. Upgrades like these will improve the grid’s performance, especially in extreme weather situations.
Improving infrastructure is crucial for minimizing outages and bolstering grid resilience. Leveraging advanced technologies enables us to meet future energy needs while ensuring reliable service for our customers, with fewer interruptions.
DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by the end of 2029.
Upgrading work is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
