Brighter days, and brighter lights, are on their way to customers in Grosse Pointe.
We know recent electric services in the area have not been up to the standard our customers expect. It hasn’t met ours, either. That’s why we have been making infrastructure improvements in Grosse Pointe. This work will help make our system safer, more reliable and to prevent future outages.
Over the past few weeks, crews have been upgrading the overhead distribution system that delivers power to homes and businesses in portions of Grosse Pointe. The project includes the following:
- Installing new wires and overhead electrical equipment.
- Installing some new utility poles that will better withstand severe weather.
- Trimming or removing trees that may interfere with DTE power lines.
Trees are a beautiful and vital part of Michigan’s landscape. Unfortunately, they also are the leading cause of power outages, accounting for 50% of the time customers spend without power. Tree trimming is proven to improve electric reliability for customers.
To protect the safety of people in the community and to help keep your power on, our tree experts will be visiting Grosse Pointe to trim and, if necessary, remove trees. Our goal is always to keep your trees as healthy and beautiful as possible. Our tree trimming program follows industry standards and uses trimming methods that promote both healthy trees and safe, reliable power. All work will be completed by tree professionals who have been trained on safe, proper and environmentally responsible work practices. We are committed to working with you throughout this process and will be here to address any concerns you might have before tree work begins. If you have any tree-trimming questions or comments, please call 800.477.4747 to speak with a DTE representative.
This reliability improvement project began in early October and will be completed by the end of November. We will continue to work to improve your service, so you have the safe, reliable power you need now and in the future.
