DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by 2029.

As we continue work to strengthen the grid, our crews have identified one dozen poles in the city of Wayne that need various equipment replacements. That work started recently as the team was dispatched to the corner of Annapolis Street and Howe Road to perform the upgrades. Specifically, the crew here was installing pole top upgrades to this brand-new pole. Once the other poles on this project are finished being upgraded, crews will be back to install new wire across the newly upgraded poles.

Work like this is crucial in our effort to strengthen our grid and we will continue to identify and upgrade equipment. These upgrades help improve the performance of the grid, specifically during extreme weather.

By updating equipment, DTE is strengthening the existing system and preparing to meet future energy demands. Our dedication to these enhancements ensures that customers will continue to receive the dependable service they count on.

Upgrading work, as seen here in Wayne, is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
