Good news Detroiters! Crews are continuing to upgrade DTE’s electric grid. Recently, our team installed two new primary switch cabinets the Greektown neighborhood near Macomb and Saint Antoine Streets. These improve reliability for two reasons. First, these specific switch cabinets have the capability to detect cable faults, minimizing power restoration time. Second, if one switch cabinet goes down, the second will act as a backup power source. This is one of many steps DTE is taking towards creating a better grid for a brighter future.
You may see more of our crews in the coming months as part of our accelerated electric reliability projects in your area, including more tree trimming and infrastructure updates. All these projects are underway to improve your service and reliability for the short and long term.
Make sure to regularly check the Detroit – District 6 community page to learn more about what’s going on in your neighborhood. You can also follow DTE on Facebook and Twitter for even more updates and information.
