As rising food costs and disruptions to SNAP benefits continue to impact families across Michigan, the DTE Foundation is deepening its commitment to fighting hunger. November 2025, the Foundation has invested $300,000 to help ensure families have consistent access to nutritious food during a time of increasing need.
This funding supports a network of trusted hunger‑relief partners across the state, including the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, Food Gatherers, Forgotten Harvest, Gleaners Community Food Bank, United Way for Southeastern Michigan, and Feeding America West Michigan. These organizations work every day to expand food distribution, strengthen emergency response efforts, and provide families with the healthy meals they deserve.
“Families across Michigan continue to face real challenges putting food on the table,” said Rodney Cole, president, DTE Foundation. “We’re proud to stand alongside our partners to make sure nutritious meals reach those who need them most. This is about caring for our neighbors and strengthening the communities where we live and serve.”
That support is felt deeply by organizations on the front lines of hunger relief.
“Our fondest memories, strongest traditions and most heartfelt celebrations often have one thing in common: the meals we share with one another,” said Gerry Brisson, president and CEO, Gleaners Community Food Bank. “When we come together to solve hunger, the investments we make in our neighbors lift up the whole community, not just the people we’re helping. We’re grateful for partners like the DTE Foundation, whose support will feed families today and tomorrow.”
“With the support of amazing partners like the DTE Foundation, United Way’s Every Family Fed Fund will help ensure those harmed by disruptions in critical nutrition programs like SNAP can continue to put food on the table,” added Dr. Darienne Hudson, president and CEO, United Way for Southeastern Michigan. “We are grateful for all our donors and community partners like DTE who have answered the call and amplified their giving in this time of incredible need.”
This most recent investment builds on the Foundation’s growing statewide impact. So far this year, the DTE Foundation has invested $1,062,000 in 39 organizations working to reduce food insecurity across Michigan—stretching from the Upper Peninsula to Southeast Michigan.
