Tree trim crews were recently out in Detroit’s Grandmont-Rosedale neighborhood, near the Southfield Freeway and Grand River Avenue. They cleared off excess tree limbs that could interfere with overhead power lines during heavy winds. This reduces the risk of storm related outages, improving reliability for the community.

In late 2021, DTE made a $90 million investment to accelerate tree trimming efforts across the communities it serves, helping prevent outages during heavy storms.

Highlights include:

  • Accelerating tree trimming work for communities hardest hit by storms last fall
  • Increasing our tree trim workforce by 30%
  • Trimming 5,700 miles of trees near power lines — more than the distance from Detroit to Hawaii — in the last year alone

If trees are creating a safety hazard near your home, please report it to DTE here. We prioritize safety concerns based on the severity of the hazard.
