One of our crews were on Michigan and Third Street continuing the ongoing work of switching over Detroit’s power source from the Public Lighting Department (PLD) to DTE Energy. With this switch, DTE is making upgrades to make sure homes and businesses have improved power reliability. Instead of using existing PLD equipment, our crew is installing two new switch cabinets with upgraded cables to feed the city. A line worker is pictured taking one last look at the new unenergized cabinets after making cable connections to the electrical system.
You may see more of our crews in the coming months as part of our accelerated electric reliability projects in your area, including more tree trimming and infrastructure updates. All these projects are underway to improve your service and reliability for the short- and long term.
Make sure to regularly check the Detroit – District 6 community page to learn more about what’s going on in your neighborhood. You can also follow DTE on Facebook and Twitter for even more updates and information.
