DTE’s Environmental Management and Safety (EM&S) team has two new reasons to celebrate. In October, Keep Michigan Beautiful recognized the team with the President’s Award for their osprey protection efforts and the Michigan Award for DTE’s grazing partnership with Michigoat.
Presented at the organization’s annual awards luncheon in Southfield, the honors recognize years of work finding practical ways to protect Michigan’s wildlife, manage invasive plants and support native habitats, all while keeping our operations running.

Recognition for stewardship in action
The President’s Award highlights EM&S’s collaboration with Distribution Operations on osprey protection. Together, the teams built nesting platforms that keep the birds and their nesting materials away from electrical equipment. The result protects wildlife and keeps service reliable at the same time.
The Michigan Award recognizes DTE’s partnership with Michigoat, whose goats graze vegetation at service centers. The goats help control invasive plants and reduce the need for mowing and herbicides. Paired with native plantings, the effort is also restoring habitat.

Where stewardship meets business
The two projects take different approaches but share one thing: they show how DTE’s environmental team connects stewardship with everyday business needs. The recognition celebrates that work and the partnerships that help bring it to life.
Congratulations to the EM&S team and everyone who helps make these award-winning efforts possible.
