At DTE, strengthening the grid is a top priority to help ensure greater reliability. This involves strategic upgrades tailored to customer needs, from small-scale improvements like replacing cross arms on individual poles to large projects that will enhance an entire neighborhood.

At the corner of Laurel Club Circle and Orchard Lake Road in West Bloomfield, our crews were out making upgrades that will help support the electrical service needs of our customers here. A new underground transformer cabinet has been installed to better serve the area. Customers in the area can expect better performance from their electrical service, especially during extreme weather situations.

Upgrading infrastructure is vital to reducing outages and bolstering grid resilience. With investments in advanced technology, we are prepared to meet future energy demands and provide reliable, consistent service for our customers.

DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by the end of 2029.

This upgrading work is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
