As we continue to place a heavy emphasis on tree trimming across West Bloomfield, this week we dispatched crews to the Franklin Valley neighborhood. Arborists worked near the corner of Pebblecreek Road and Old Court removing overgrown branches off DTE primary lines. Work like this improves reliability for customers when extreme weather strikes as tree trimming has been proven to be the most cost-effective and expedient way to strengthen the system.

All throughout this year, we have increased our tree trimming efforts dramatically across our service territory as part of a $90 million investment to accelerate tree trimming.

Highlights include:

  • Accelerating tree trimming work for communities hardest hit by storms last fall
  • Increasing our tree trim workforce by 30%
  • Trimming 5,700 miles of trees near power lines — more than the distance from Detroit to Hawaii — in the last year alone

If trees are creating a safety hazard near your home, please report it to DTE here. We prioritize safety concerns based on the severity of the hazard.

You may see more of our crews in the coming months as part of our accelerated electric reliability projects in your area, including more tree trimming and infrastructure updates. All these projects are underway to improve your service and reliability for the short and long term.

Make sure to regularly check the West Bloomfield community page to learn more about what’s going on in your neighborhood. You can also follow DTE on Facebook and Twitter for even more updates and information.
