DTE is energizing the future of Downtown Detroit with investments in infrastructure, supporting increased electric vehicle charging. Underground crews recently installed transformers that will power EV charging stations outside of a new apartment building on Rivard Street near Lafayette Park. As a part of DTE’s ongoing four-point plan, we are updating existing electric infrastructure to support initiatives like this. We are continuing to rebuild older portions of our grid to improve both resiliency and reliability. During this rebuild, there may be strategic opportunities to move wires underground. While our investment in renewable energy already exceeds $3 billion, we have ambitious plans to do even more.

You may see more of our crews in the coming months as part of our accelerated electric reliability projects in your area, including more tree trimming, maintenance, and infrastructure updates. All of these projects are underway to improve your service and reliability in both the short and long term.
