DTE Energy is dedicated to building a stronger grid. Our crews are out in the field every day inspecting equipment and locating areas where upgrades may be needed.
This brought crews recently to the corner of Zelma Drive and Hatton Road in Auburn Hills, where major improvement work was taking place. Here, our crews are installing 15 new power poles throughout this neighborhood. Along with the new poles, new pole top equipment such as new fiberglass cross arms, transformers, and connectors, is also being installed. These upgrades will help improve the reliability of the electrical service in the area. When all 15 poles are installed, our crews will then go in and run all new wire to the poles. This work will boost the performance of the grid overall, especially during extreme weather situations.
Enhancing our infrastructure is essential for minimizing outages and strengthening grid resilience. By investing in cutting-edge technologies, we can efficiently meet future energy demands and ensure reliable, uninterrupted service for our customers.
DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by the end of 2029.
Upgrading work is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
