DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by 2029.

As part of our commitment to increased reliability, we are working to ensure our Saline customers have fewer and shorter outages. One way we will achieve this is by upgrading our current infrastructure. DTE crews recently identified equipment at the corner of Michigan Avenue and Timber Lane that needed upgraded electrial equipment. For this community, an older transformer delivering power underground was selected to be swapped out for a new transformer.

This new equipment will help us reduce outages in the area. The new transformer will help increase reliability for our customers. DTE is working jobs like this one to not only improve reliability but help with the greater demand for electricity and growing capacity needed in the years ahead.

This upgrading work is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
