As part of our commitment to strengthening the grid, DTE Energy crews are actively identifying areas where tree trimming is needed. Recently, our team began work in a residential area of Beverly Hills, at the corner of Bedford Street and Beaconsfield Street.
This project involves removing multiple limbs and branches that posed a potential threat to our electrical equipment, which can cause power outages. In fact, trees and branches are responsible for half of the time our customers spend without power. This ongoing, preventative maintenance will be carried out at various locations in and around this area of Oakland County.
DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by 2029.
This tree trimming work is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
