We are committed to providing safe, reliable energy for our customers, and to do so, we are trimming trees across our service territory. In Eastpointe, we recently completed a tree trimming job to prevent possible future outages in the area. The team evaluated what was required to safely complete the job and overhead crews briefly shut off power to ensure arborists were able to safely remove the trees that were growing near our equipment.
50% of the time our customers spend without power is due to trees and branches contacting our equipment. To combat this, DTE has trimmed more than 25,000 miles of trees over the last five years, and tree trimming is a vital part of our four-point plan to improve reliability that we will be executing over the next several years. Read more about our tree trimming program.
You may see more of our crews in the coming months as part of our accelerated electric reliability projects in your area, including more tree trimming, maintenance, and infrastructure updates. All of these projects are underway to improve your service and reliability in both the short and long term.
