DTE Energy’s four-point plan is underway across our service area. This plan includes rebuilding sections of the grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, taking steps toward transitioning to a smart grid and trimming trees.

Recently, our crews were in Plymouth and other Wayne County communities completing residential tree trimming jobs, which will increase electric reliability for residents and businesses in the area, especially during extreme weather.

Downed trees and branches on wires and equipment account for 50% of the time our customers are without power. That’s why our crews are working throughout our service area to reduce outages through tree trimming.

Remember, you don’t have to choose between reliable service and beautiful trees. By planting the right trees in the right place, you can have both. The Right Tree, Right Place guide and the list of Trees Suitable for Planting in Southeast Michigan can help you decide where and what to plant.

Keep in mind other electrical equipment that may be on your property, too, when planting trees. Maintaining proper distance around this equipment ensures safety and can prevent a prolonged power outage for you and your neighbors. Also, don’t forget to call MISS DIG at 8-1-1 least three business days before you break ground.

If you have a non-emergency question or concern about DTE Energy’s Tree Trimming program, please complete the inquiry form. Allow 5-7 business days for a response from our Tree Trim team.
