Oak Park residents may have recently noticed an orange “workers ahead” sign at the intersection of Geneva Street and Northfield Boulevard. This indicated that tree trimming crews were in your neighborhood. Our team safely cut down branches that were growing too close to overhead power lines. This reduces the chance of power outages during turbulent weather and will improve electrical reliability for the community.

In late 2021, DTE made a $90 million investment to accelerate tree trimming efforts across the communities it serves, helping prevent outages during heavy storms.

Highlights include:

  • Accelerating tree trimming work for communities hardest hit by recent storms last fall
  • Increasing our tree trim workforce by 30%
  • Trimming 5,700 miles of trees near power lines — more than the distance from Detroit to Hawaii — in the last year alone

If trees are creating a safety hazard near your home, please report it to DTE here. We prioritize safety concerns based on the severity of the hazard.
