Tree trimming crews continue to make reliability improvements throughout the West side of Detroit. Our team recently worked in Grandmont neighborhood, near Grandmont Avenue and Kendall Street to remove tree limbs hanging dangerously close to overhead powerlines. This prevents tree interference with our equipment during extreme weather, helping keep power reliable and safely flowing for nearby homes and businesses.

All throughout this year, we have increased our tree trimming efforts dramatically across our service territory as part of a $90 million investment to accelerate tree trimming.

Highlights include:

  • Accelerating tree trimming work for communities hardest hit by storms last fall
  • Increasing our tree trim workforce by 30%
  • Trimming 5,700 miles of trees near power lines — more than the distance from Detroit to Hawaii — in the last year alone

If trees are creating a safety hazard near your home, please report it to DTE here. We prioritize safety concerns based on the severity of the hazard.
