You may have noticed tree trimming trucks in your neighborhood near West Nine Mile Road and Gardner Street. Oak Park residents will be happy to hear that this means better electrical reliability for years to come. The removal of overgrown tree limbs decreases the chance of power disruptions during extreme weather, helping ensure reliable service and better electrical performance for the Oak Park community.

In late 2021, DTE made a $90 million investment to accelerate tree trimming efforts across the communities it serves, helping prevent outages during heavy storms.

Highlights include:

  • Accelerating tree trimming work for communities hardest hit by storms last fall
  • Increasing our tree trim workforce by 30%
  • Trimming 5,700 miles of trees near power lines — more than the distance from Detroit to Hawaii — in the last year alone

If trees are creating a safety hazard near your home, please report it to DTE here. We prioritize safety concerns based on the severity of the hazard.
