Oak Park residents may have recently noticed an orange “workers ahead” sign placed near Jerome Street and Oak Park Boulevard. This signifies that tree trimmers were in your neighborhood working to improve your reliability. Our team trimmed multiple tree limbs back from an overhead power line. This work prevents branches getting caught in electrical wires during storms, helping keep power safely flowing for the neighborhood.

In late 2021, DTE made a $90 million investment to accelerate tree trimming efforts across the communities it serves, helping prevent outages during heavy storms.

Highlights include:

  • Accelerating tree trimming work for communities hardest hit by storms last fall
  • Increasing our tree trim workforce by 30%
  • Trimming 5,700 miles of trees near power lines — more than the distance from Detroit to Hawaii — in the last year alone

If trees are creating a safety hazard near your home, please report it to DTE here. We prioritize safety concerns based on the severity of the hazard.
