Our tree trimming crews recently worked in the backyard of a Detroit home near Woodmont Avenue and Schoolcraft Road in the Grandmont neighborhood. The trimming team cleared off excess tree limbs that could interfere with overhead lines during heavy winds. This reduces the risk of storm related power outages, helping keep electricity flowing when and where Detroiters need it most.

All throughout this year, we have increased our tree trimming efforts dramatically across our service territory as part of a $90 million investment to accelerate tree trimming.

Highlights include:

  • Accelerating tree trimming work for communities hardest hit by storms last fall
  • Increasing our tree trim workforce by 30%
  • Trimming 5,700 miles of trees near power lines — more than the distance from Detroit to Hawaii — in the last year alone

If trees are creating a safety hazard near your home, please report it to DTE here. We prioritize safety concerns based on the severity of the hazard.
