Tree trimmers were out in Huntington Woods, near Vernon Avenue and Newport Boulevard, improving reliability for an Oak Park circuit. During heavy storms, branches can get tangled up with overhead lines, causing power disruptions for nearby homes and businesses. Our team cleared off branches that were growing too close to electrical infrastructure, helping keep power flowing for Oak Park residents, when they need it most.

In late 2021, DTE made a $90 million investment to accelerate tree trimming efforts across the communities it serves to help prevent outages during heavy storms. You can read more about that initiative here. Highlights include:

  • Accelerating tree trimming work for the communities hardest hit by storms last fall
  • Increasing our tree trim workforce by 30%
  • Trimming 5,700 miles of trees near power lines — more than the distance from Detroit to Hawaii — in the last year alone

If trees are creating a safety hazard near your home, please report it to DTE here. We prioritize safety concerns based on the severity of the hazard.
