Tree trim crews were working to remove overgrown branches that were dangerously close to a power line in a neighborhood near Ithaca Street and Northfield Boulevard. This decreases the chances of tree limbs getting tangled up with wires during heavy storms and improves reliability.
In late 2021, DTE made a $90 million investment to accelerate tree trimming efforts across the communities it serves to help prevent outages during heavy storms. You can read more about that initiative here. Highlights include:
- Accelerating tree trimming work for the communities hardest hit by recent storms last fall
- Increasing our tree trim workforce by 30%
- Trimming 5,700 miles of trees near power lines — more than the distance from Detroit to Hawaii — in the last year alone
If trees are creating a safety hazard near your home, please report it to DTE here. We prioritize safety concerns based on the severity of the hazard.
