Trees interfering with power lines continue to be the main reason why our customers spend time without power. That was exactly the case earlier this week in Oak Park when a tree fell on a power line in a residential area, leaving half the customers in the neighborhood without power.

One of our crews was quickly dispatched to come out to replace the downed line and restore power to the area. Once the line was de-energized and replaced, one of our tree trim crews cut down the nearby branches that caused the initial issue to prevent future hazards and outages.

As you can see in the photo below, areas with overgrown trees remain a threat to power reliability. Our mission is to trim as many trees in spots like this to protect your power reliability and strengthen our electric grid.

You may see more of our crews in the coming months as part of our accelerated electric reliability projects in your area, including more tree trimming and infrastructure updates. All these projects are underway to improve your service and reliability for the short- and long-term.

Make sure to regularly check the Oak Park community page to learn more about what’s going on in your neighborhood. You can also follow DTE on Facebook and Twitter for even more updates and information.
