Tree trimmers were out in Romulus recently, removing overgrown branches near along Ecorse Rd between Hannan and Cogswell. Crews worked to safely create the proper clearance of vegetation off DTE mainlines. Tree trimming maintenance has been proven to be the most affordable and timely way to reduce the chances of power outages caused by inclement weather.

In late 2021, DTE made a $90 million investment to accelerate tree trimming efforts across the communities it serves, helping prevent outages during heavy storms.

Highlights include:

  • Accelerating tree trimming work for communities hardest hit by storms last fall
  • Increasing our tree trim workforce by 30%
  • Trimming 5,700 miles of trees near power lines — more than the distance from Detroit to Hawaii — in the last year alone

If trees are creating a safety hazard near your home, please report it to DTE here. We prioritize safety concerns based on the severity of the hazard.

You may see more of our crews in the coming months as part of our accelerated electric reliability projects in your area, including more tree trimming and infrastructure updates. All these projects are underway to improve your service and reliability for the short- and long-term.
