It’s National Clean Energy Week, which means we get to celebrate all the incredible things our renewable energy team has been doing this year. Here are the top three:

Bringing Michigan’s largest wind park online

By the end of this year, our Meridian Wind Park will be fully operational. This means that the park’s 77 wind turbines will be generating enough clean energy to power more than 78,000 Michigan homes. As Michigan’s largest wind park, Meridian Wind will play a major role in reaching our goal of net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

Making history

In August, we announced with Ford Motor Company the largest renewable energy purchase from a utility in U.S. history. Through our MIGreenPower program, we’ll add 650 megawatts of new solar energy for Ford by 2025, increasing the total amount of installed solar capacity in Michigan by nearly 70%. That’s a lot of clean energy!

Working with pollinators

Bees, butterflies, and other pollinating species are essential to life as we know it. But their populations are rapidly declining. That’s why we’re installing pollinator habitats at our solar parks across the state, supporting the species that are so critical to Michigan’s identity and character. This benefits not only the environment, but local economies and communities as well.
