You have a lot of bills to manage – whether it’s internet, streaming services, natural gas, electric or water. It can be hard to keep up with monthly bills and understand them. Let’s break down your DTE bill to help you explore and understand the helpful information it contains.

What do the charges on my bill mean?

We want to help you understand the terms and usage listed on your energy bill. Every DTE bill has a few key features that reflect your usage in detail.

  • Your monthly energy usage: This section shows your electric and/or gas usage throughout the year and compares your current month’s usage to last month and a year ago.
  • Current billing information: This section shows your actual meter reading, which is how much energy you used in your home.

We have a detailed breakdown of all the charges on your bill on our website

Additionally, it’s important to know the weather, the number of people in your home and the number of days in your billing cycle, which can all impact your monthly bill.

Where can I see my bill details?

Whether you’re enrolled in eBill Paperless Billing, receive a paper bill or don’t have your bill handy, you can easily access your bill details.

  • Paper bill: The breakdown of your current charges and usage history can be seen in the “detail of current charges” section.
  • eBill: There is a PDF version of your bill attached to your eBill. It’s a password protected document – your password is the last four digits of your social security number. You can also click on “Current Bill” to be taken to your online account for more details.
