This year, we cheered on young people throughout Michigan as they built robots as teams and competed at events across the state. DTE and the DTE Foundation have been long-time supporters of FIRST Robotics. This year we sponsored 15 FIRST Tech Challenge (middle school) teams and 25 FIRST Robotics Challenge (high school) teams, as well as regional events and the FIRST in Michigan State Championship.
FIRST encourages young people to explore STEM, while learning problem-solving skills and teamwork. Students learn valuable skills they can take into their future education endeavors and their careers.
Dozens of DTE employees volunteer as coaches or mentors, or at events. From Monroe to the Upper Peninsula, our employees dedicate countless hours to this important program. Many of our employees were even part of FIRST teams in their youth. Watch the video below to hear their stories.
