DTE Energy is continuing to work to build a stronger grid. One of the ways this is accomplished is by having crews out in the field, inspecting thousands of line miles of electric equipment. When our team comes across equipment that requires an upgrade, we take appropriate action to implement those improvements.

Sometimes there are numerous locations in a neighborhood that require upgrades, or perhaps only one location needs to be upgraded.

In Bloomfield Township, our crews have identified power poles in the area that needed to be replaced. Recently, at the corner of Juniper Lane and Echo Road, our crews worked to install a new pole, as well as some tree trimming that also needs to occur, helping to reduce the risk of future damage to the equipment. These changes are crucial in the pursuit of building a stronger grid. Customers in this area can expect to see an increase in performance, especially during extreme weather situations.

DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by the end of 2029.

Upgrading work is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
