DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by 2029.

As part of our process of building a stronger grid, our crews were working in Ypsilanti. At the corner of Cadillac Avenue and Coolidge Avenue, they identified equipment in need of upgrading. Much of what our crews have been doing in this specific area is locating equipment that needs replacement. This can vary from new cross arms of connectors, or a brand-new pole needs to be dropped in. At this location, a pole along with the accompanying pole top equipment was installed. These upgrades will improve the stability of this location as well as play a part in improving the grid overall, especially during extreme weather situations.

These infrastructure upgrades are crucial to our mission of reducing outages and ensuring a more resilient and reliable grid. By updating our equipment, DTE is not only enhancing the stability of our current system but also preparing to meet the growing demand for electricity in the future. We are fully committed to these efforts to provide our customers with the dependable service they deserve.

Upgrading work is an important part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
