DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to improve reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in halfby 2029.

More than 50 new power poles are soon to be installed in Northwest Detroit as a part of DTE’s plan to upgrade our current infrastructure.

At the corner of Normile Street and Mackenzie Street, our crews were busy recently working on these upgrades in that residential area. The work included replacing the old cross-arm with a new, more durable cross-arm. New connectors were also installed that will work hand in hand to fully upgrade this pole. This job marked the halfway point in the work along this street and will be finished shortly.

DTE is building the grid of the future. That plan includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees. These are at the core of our plan as we work to increase reliability in Detroit and the many other communities we serve.
