DTE Energy is laser focused on building a stronger grid. One of the ways we will accomplish this is by upgrading key portions of our infrastructure.

This initiative brought our crews to the corner of Arlene Drive and 16 Mile Road in Sterling Heights where they were busy installing 11 new power poles. Along with the new poles, each will be equipped with new pole top equipment such as connectors and transformers. Together, these upgrades will be a better fit to handle the increased electric load in the area. By doing work like this across our service area, we will build a stronger grid. A grid where our customers can see much improved performance, noticeably, during extreme weather situations.

Investing in infrastructure upgrades is key to minimizing outages and enhancing grid resilience. With the adoption of advanced technology, we are well-prepared to meet future energy demands and provide our customers with reliable, uninterrupted service.

DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by the end of 2029.

This upgrading work is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
