DTE Energy remains laser focused on building a stronger grid of the future. One way we get there is by replacing some older equipment with more modern and durable alternatives.

This brought our crews recently to Fraser, at the corner of Mulvey Road and Gardenia Drive, where work continued to boost the electric reliability for this area. Specifically, crews are continuing to install brand new steel poles here. These poles are not only made of a much more durable material, but they are also taller than their wooden predecessors. Many of the new steel poles have already been installed and once completed, work will begin to run new wire to these newly upgraded poles. This work will greatly improve the performance of the electrical equipment in the area, especially during extreme weather situations.

Enhancing our infrastructure is essential for minimizing outages and strengthening grid resilience. By investing in advanced technologies, we can efficiently meet future energy needs and ensure reliable, uninterrupted service for our customers.

DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by the end of 2029.

Upgrading work is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
