DTE Energy is focused on building a stronger grid. One way we accomplish that is by upgrading our current infrastructure.

Recently, at the corner of Ford Road and Sheldon Road in Canton, our crews have installed four new steel poles to replace the older wooden poles at this location. The crew then had to transfer cables to the new equipment to complete the upgrade. Along with the poles, new cross arms and connectors have also been installed to round out the improvements at this location.

Upgrades like this are happening now across our service area, helping create a more modern and reliable grid for our customers. Expect to see an increase in performance, especially during extreme weather situations.

DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by the end of 2029.

This upgrading work is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
