DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage duration time in half by the end of 2029.
Recently, a crew was dispatched to the corner of Lohr Road and Lohr Circle in Ann Arbor, and their job on this day included making some vital equipment upgrades. It was the result of earlier crews patrolling and identifying equipment that required work or to be replaced.
Crews installed a new pole at this location and plan to upgrade the transformer in the area as well. This work is to better prepare the area for an upcoming increase in demand and by strengthening our grid now, we can better prepare for the load increase. These upgrades will provide a better performance for the grid in the area, especially during extreme weather situations. By modernizing equipment, DTE is reinforcing the system to meet future energy demands. Our commitment to these enhancements ensures customers receive the dependable service they count on.
Upgrading work is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
