DTE Energy is laser focused on strengthening the grid by upgrading our current infrastructure. Before our crews can go in and make these upgrades, our equipment must be inspected to determine where and what kinds of upgrades are needed.
Recently, at the corner of Rawsonville Road and Interstate 94 Service Drive in Van Buren Township, our crews were busy upgrading some overhead electrical equipment along three different power poles. Specifically, the crews here were working to replace the cross arms over these three poles. This location was identified as a key area where upgrades were needed. Work like this is happening all across our service territory to provide customers with the best electrical service. Customers in this area of Van Buren Township can expect to see an increase in electrical reliability, especially during extreme weather situations.
Enhancing our infrastructure is essential for minimizing outages and strengthening grid resilience. By investing in advanced technologies, we are equipped to meet future energy needs and deliver reliable, uninterrupted service to our customers.
DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by the end of 2029.
Upgrading work is one part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
