DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by 2029.
As our work continues to build a stronger grid, our crews have recently identified locations in Royal Oak where upgrades are necessary. Specifically, at the corner of Nakota Road and Hampton Boulevard, our crews were replacing a broken pole with not only a new one but all new pole top equipment. Additionally, a new transformer has also been installed to solidify and complete the upgrades in this specific area.
These upgrades are crucial in our efforts to build a stronger grid. By doing this work, we can increase the reliability of the equipment in the area, especially during extreme weather.
Infrastructure upgrades are key to our mission of reducing outages and strengthening the grid’s resilience and reliability. By modernizing equipment, DTE is reinforcing the current system and preparing to meet future energy demands. Our commitment to these enhancements ensures that customers will continue to receive the dependable service they rely on.
Upgrading work is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
