DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by 2029.

We continue to work towards building a stronger grid. This has brought our crews to Hartland to continue this initiative. At the corner of East Highland Rd and Old US Highway 23, our crews have been busy upgrading both the underground and overhead equipment. New poles, cross arms and cutouts are being installed along the entirety of East Highland Road and these upgrades work alongside the upgraded cable that is being installed underground. The work, on over 100 poles, will greatly improve the reliability of service in the area and to better perform with the increasing load demand as well as during extreme weather situations.

These infrastructure upgrades are crucial to our goal of minimizing outages. Modernizing equipment is one central element of our plan to build a stronger and more reliable grid. DTE remains committed to these initiatives, not only to boost reliability but also to accommodate the rising demand for electricity in the future.

Upgrading work is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
