DTE crews were in Detroit this week, at the corner of Second Avenue and West Grand Boulevard, repairing a portion of the electric grid. Our crews found the condition of a joint sleeve did not meet today’s compliance standards. What is a joint sleeve? It is a vital piece of equipment that seals the cable joints, protecting the insulation contained within. Our team went underground to replace this section with a new sleeve, one that will help keep power reliably flowing for Detroiters. Work like this is an important part of making safe improvements to the overall DTE electric grid.

You may see more of our crews in the coming months as part of our accelerated electric reliability projects in your area, including more tree trimming and infrastructure updates. All these projects are underway to improve your service and reliability for the short and long term.
