DTE Energy is laser focused on our commitment to lower outage frequencies by 30% and cut outage durations in half for customers by 2029 in both Wayne County and across the communities we serve.

Customers ask us, “how will you achieve these goals?”

By accelerating our transition to a smart grid, rebuilding significant portions of the grid, upgrading existing infrastructure and trimming trees.

The DTE grid of the future will soon feature 10,000 new smart grid devices, technology that can help reroute power to many customers during an outage.

We’ve already made significant investments in the grid, but we’re not done yet. Over the next five years, we plan to invest more than $9 billion more to make our grid safer and more reliable for customers.

Building a world-class grid for our customers will take time – but that investment is critical for Michigan’s future.

Hear from one of our lead engineers on the work being done now in Livonia to fulfill that plan and reach these significant reliability improvements for many customers in Wayne County.
