DTE Energy continues with work to build a stronger grid. Part of the four-point plan to accomplish this includes making upgrades to our current infrastructure to boost reliability.
This brings us to Livonia, at the corner of Six Mile Road and Fairlane Drive, where our crews have recently installed upgrades to our equipment. Specifically, crews have been installing many new poles, cross arms, connectors, and transformers in the area. Together, these upgrades will provide a boost to both the safety and reliability of the electric service. Our customers can expect to see better performance of the local grid overall, especially during extreme weather situations.
Strengthening our infrastructure is key to reducing outages and improving grid resilience. By investing in advanced technologies, we can effectively meet future energy needs and provide our customers with dependable, uninterrupted service.
DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by the end of 2029.
Upgrading work like this is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
