DTE Energy is dedicated to building a stronger grid. Our crews are staying busy identifying and upgrading certain portions of the grid.

Recently in Taylor, on the corner of Clippert Street and Hayes Street, important upgrades were made. At this location, our crews replaced on power poles various cross arms and connectors with their newer, more durable replacements. Upgrades such as these are happening across our service area. Sometimes it’s one or two poles in a neighborhood being serviced, other times hundreds of new poles are being installed to drastically change the quality of service in the area. Customers where these upgrades are taking place can expect to see an increase in electrical performance, especially during extreme weather situations.

Upgrading infrastructure is crucial for reducing outages and improving grid resilience. By investing in modern equipment, we are prepared to meet future energy demands and deliver reliable, consistent service to our customers.

DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by the end of 2029.

This upgrading work is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
