DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by 2029.
As we continue our efforts to strengthen the grid, crews have been busy in Ypsilanti, specifically at the corner of Hubbard Avenue and South Huron River Drive, where they recently installed a new power pole and the necessary new pole top equipment. Similar installations are underway across Ypsilanti and surrounding areas based on assessments from our front-line crews.
These upgrades are designed to better prepare the grid for the increasing electrical demands of our customers, improve performance, and enhance reliability during extreme weather, resulting in fewer outages and faster restoration times.
This is also an important part of our effort to enhance reliability in the area. Replacing and upgrading our current infrastructure is crucial to our plan for building a stronger and more dependable grid. DTE will continue this work to boost reliability and accommodate the region’s increasing electric demand.
DTE is the building the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
