As DTE Energy continues building a stronger grid, our crews are in the field and patrolling to locate equipment that requires needed upgrades.
This work brought our team recently to Southfield. At the corner of Carleton Avenue and 9 Mile Road, our crew was busy installing a brand-new power pole, as well as the accompanying pole top equipment such as connectors and more. There are more upgrades coming to other locations in this area soon. Together, the work will ensure a better performing grid in Southfield. The upgrades will make their effectiveness known as well during extreme weather situations.
DTE Energy is dedicated to constructing a smarter, stronger and more resilient grid to enhance reliability. Our commitment to customers is to reduce power outages by 30% and to cut outage durations in half by 2029.
Upgrading work is part of DTE’s plan to build the grid of the future. That plan, now well underway, includes transitioning to a smart grid, upgrading existing infrastructure, rebuilding significant portions of the grid and trimming trees.
