DTE reliability crews were recently seen in Wayne County, working hard in Canton. Their task was to replace an old, weathered power pole that had snapped at its base. Due to years of harsh weather conditions and decay caused by moisture, it had become weakened. This can even cause some poles to lean, as you can see here.

A new power pole was needed, so our crew began removing the old pole and installing the new one. The new pole, treated with a special coating to protect it from the elements, is designed to be stronger and more durable.

Once the new pole was tested and found to be working properly, this job was complete, helping ensure a reliable, safe power supply for the residents of Canton.

You may see more of our crews in the coming months as part of our accelerated electric reliability projects in your area, including more tree trimming and infrastructure updates. All these projects are underway to improve your service and reliability in the short and long term.
