Earlier this week, we hosted open houses at Riley Park in Farmington and Heritage Park in Farmington Hills to share reliability improvement plans with customers and receive their feedback.

“It’s important to get face-to-face with the customers so you can really hear and see what issues they’re having and how we can best help,” said Ryan Stowe vice president, Distribution Operations, DTE Energy.

DTE engineers and arborists set up stations with poster boards illustrating the area’s electric grid and circuits so that customers could gain a better understanding of how their specific neighborhoods will be impacted by the accelerated tree trimming and infrastructure upgrades.

Stowe knew how challenging of a summer these communities have experienced and understood the importance of visiting communities and making a real effort to connect with customers.

“These have been extremely positive events, just getting the chance to connect with customers,” Stowe said. “We’ve had a lot of outages, particularly in these communities. To be able to share our plans for the additional tree trim and equipment upgrades and show our commitment to making some big improvements was really important.”

All attendees were invited to share their contact information with the DO team on-site so that they could receive future updates about work happening in their area. Every attendee was also treated to free apple cider and donuts from Franklin Cider Mill.

Thank you to all Farmington and Farmington Hills residents that were able to stop by and talk with us. We appreciate the opportunity to host these types of open house events with our customers and we continue to value the direct customer feedback we receive in these open-discussion environments.

You may be seeing more of our crews in the coming months as part of our accelerated electric reliability projects in your area, including more tree trimming and infrastructure updates. All these projects are being done to improve your service and reliability for the short- and long-term.

Make sure to regularly check the Farmington and Farmington Hills community pages to learn more about what’s going on in your neighborhood. You can also follow DTE’s Facebook and Twitter for even more updates and information.
