If you live anywhere in Farmington, Farmington Hills, or northern parts of Livonia, you may have experienced a temporary power outage on the afternoon of Thursday, Oct. 21. The outage was due to a downed power line at the intersection of Ruth and Freedom which blew multiple circuits at the Bell Creek substation.

Our “secure first” team was on the scene quickly to secure and tape off the area from the public. Thankfully, no one was injured.

Soon after, our overhead crews arrived to de-energize the line and make it safe to repair. Our crew replaced the bad wire restoring power to the area by mid-afternoon.

You may see more of our crews in the coming months as part of our accelerated electric reliability projects in your area, including more tree trimming and infrastructure updates. All these projects are underway to improve your service and reliability for the short- and long-term.

Make sure to regularly check the Farmington Hills, Farmington, or Livonia community page to learn more about what’s going on in your neighborhood. You can also follow DTE on Facebook and Twitter for even more updates and information.
